Three of the Best Sunglasses for Winter 2022

In today’s economic (and meteorological) climate, holidays are more of a luxury than ever.  Whether its sun-kissed lunches or off-piste thrill seeking you’re after, Oliver Goldsmith has a pair of frames to suit everyone.  From big, beautiful sunglasses that capture attention to understated classics, these pieces will see you through every boat, bar, piste or party.

Our Top sunglass for skiing has got to be the  YUHU; a total showstopper, this oversized frame wraps beautifully around the face, blocking out any unwanted glare from the snow.  It was originally designed for Audrey Hepburn in 1966 for the film ‘Two For the Road’ – and remains one of the most striking frames in our collection.  Totally unique and wonderfully distinctive, it’s the perfect frame to take you from the mountain to mulled wine and back again.

Winter Sun is a fresh interpretation on a vintage idea.  The roots of this unique collection lie in a concept that was originally designed in 1969.  The sunglasses feature a very lightly tinted lens, originally known as ‘cosmetic lenses’. Oliver Goldsmith designed this tint specifically for protection against the sun’s glare on a winter’s day or to remove the brightness of interior lights and they’re ideal for this time of year when the sun sets a little earlier and shines a little more gently. The Winter Sun lens literally takes you through from dawn to dusk, from club sandwich to nightclub – an absolute must have in your accessory armoury.  Featuring some of our most celebrated and classic designs such as Winston, Millinaire and Lord, and excitingly, the launch of our bestselling frame, The Manhattan (Winter Sun) is coming very soon!

After a brief interlude in the Oliver Goldsmith Icons collection, Kendal is back and better than ever.  Originally designed in 1970, it embodies the fantasy and nostalgia of this iconic period in fashion and music history.  A geometric aviator with abstract angles and a linear topline, it’s a reinterpretation of the classic box aviator and is a mighty good-looking frame.  Whether you’re in the sun or snow, the Kendal just works.

Last but not least, don’t forget about your children.  Oliver Goldsmith has an amazing collection of kids sunglasses that are incredibly robust and are fitted with premium UVA/UVB Kidz Zeiss sun lenses, essential for the snow or sun.  Find out more about them HERE.
